BOOST and the Province of North Brabant Award €320,000 to Ten Promising Student Teams

BOOST and the Province of North Brabant have awarded a total of €320,000 through the second round of the Innovation Grant to ten student teams from North Brabant.
More Opportunities for Student Teams
To give more student teams the opportunity to develop their ideas, the Innovation Grant has been made more accessible this year. Whereas previously only applications between €25,000 and €40,000 were eligible, teams can now apply for grants starting at €10,000.
This adjustment enables smaller and early-stage teams to get innovative projects off the ground more easily. By doing so, BOOST and the Province of North Brabant are increasing the diversity of projects and innovations being developed by students across the region.
Student Teams Across Multiple Sectors
The selected teams are working on solutions to a wide range of societal challenges, including cleaner air, smarter water management, sustainable mobility, energy storage, and space technology.
University Racing Eindhoven (URE) and InMotion are both developing battery technologies for the next generation of electric vehicles. URE is integrating lithium-metal cells into a new battery pack for its race car, while InMotion is developing ultra-fast charging battery modules that combine high energy density with extremely short charging times.
With support from the Innovation Grant, RoboHub Eindhoven is developing an autonomous vessel that assists water authorities with inspections and water quality measurements. Aero Team Eindhoven is creating a system that enables drones to swap batteries during flight. Team IGNITE is working on intelligent lighting infrastructure that can warn road users in advance of approaching emergency vehicles.
Thanks to the awarded funding, TU/ecomotive will further develop a filtration system that captures ultrafine particles generated by tire wear while driving. Solar Team Eindhoven is working on a fully solar-powered ambulance designed for regions with limited access to reliable energy infrastructure.
In addition, Team SOLID is advancing hydrogen storage technology using iron pellets, Team Advantix is researching sustainable biocomposites as an alternative to carbon fiber, and Team VOID is developing a reusable rocket.
Stronger Representation from Across North Brabant
The second round of the Innovation Grant demonstrates that student innovation is increasingly being supported throughout North Brabant. In addition to teams affiliated with Eindhoven University of Technology, initiatives connected to Fontys University of Applied Sciences and Avans University of Applied Sciences have now also received funding.
As a result, the Innovation Grant is evolving into an instrument that reaches talented students from a variety of educational backgrounds and regions across the province.
This broader reach aligns with BOOST’s ambition to strengthen student innovation throughout North Brabant. In addition to the Innovation Grant, BOOST is collaborating with twelve educational institutions across the province to build a provincial innovation network. Through this network, student teams gain access to funding, expertise, facilities, and strategic partners.
With this investment, BOOST and the Province of North Brabant are not only supporting the development of new technologies. They are also investing in the next generation of innovators who will bring these technologies into practice. Together, they are strengthening North Brabant as the region where talent, entrepreneurship, and innovation come together.
